Columbia, SC (April 25, 2010) – Davis Public Relations and MarketingÊreceived the Best in Show award from the South Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) during the annual Mercury Awards Banquet held on Thursday, April 22 in Columbia.
The Best in Show Mercury Award is presented each year to the top public relations campaign in South Carolina. Davis Public Relations received the award for its work in managing the statewide campaign to increase South Carolina’s lowest in the nation cigarette tax, conducted for the South Carolina Tobacco Collaborative.
In addition to Best in Show, Davis Public Relations received three other awards in this year’s competition. The cigarette tax campaign was recognized with the Mercury Award for Public Affairs. Davis Public Relations received the Silver Wing Award of Merit for Press Kits for the release of a report detailing South Carolina’s failure to adequately fund tobacco prevention programs, conducted for the South Carolina Tobacco Collaborative. The agency also received the Silver Wing Award of Merit for Research and Evaluation for a brand research project conducted for LRADAC.
Each year, SCPRSA recognizes excellent public relations programs, campaigns, publications, print materials and individual achievements in communications. Mercury Awards recognize campaigns while Silver Wing Awards recognize tactics. The competition is open to anyone in the communications field in South Carolina. This year, the Kansas City chapter of PRSA judged the entries submitted by South Carolina public relations practitioners.
